GL: Are you like city Caitlin or country Caitlin?

LF: I think Caitlin is the same wherever she is, but I'm definitely a little bit of both. I have that edge the city version of Caitlin has, but definitely not as extreme as she does, It all depends on my mood, I guess.

What kind of area do you live in?

I live close to Los Angeles so we're just a step away from the city, but the area live in is in the middle of horse country.

Are you into photography like Caitlin is?

I am. I haven't been able to buy all the equipment to further my interest, but I really do enjoy photography. One of the things I bought with some of the money I made was a new camera. I love to take pictures because pictures are memories.

Did your interest come about because of your role or did the show's writers add that to your character because of you?

I was always interested in photography, but when I got the role in Caitlin's Way, she was already into photography. So it just sort of worked out that way.

What other hobbies do you have?

I took up roping after I had to learn how to rope for the show. We had an episode where Caitlin enters a horse contest, and one of the competitions is roping. So I had to learn how to rope in order to do the scene and I ended up really liking it. So for my birthday, which was a couple weeks after that, my cast and crew got together and gave me a rope for my birthday. When I came home I just kept on doing it, and now I rope my little rocking horse from when I was a kid in my backyard.

That's so wild! Caitlin has kind of an unusual family life. Is your family life much more normal than hers?

Yes, I have a really, really strong family life. I'm very lucky. My parents are still together; we're from Seattle, Wash. All of my cousins and everything are there. When you go back toward my grandparents, it gets kind of confusing because my mom's adopted and my dad's dad remarried--but we won't go into that. My parents are both still with me, and my mom goes up to Canada with me whenever I film. They actually sacrificed their whole life to move to Los Angeles so I could further my career. I'm homesohooled and my mom and dad's businesses are out of home, so we're all very close.

Do you have brothers and sisters?

Nope, just me. I doubt we'd have been able to focus on my career if we had a big family.

How did you get into acting?

Sort of by accident. When I was about 3, I got discovered at my mom's shoe store. Years ago, she worked in Nordstrom, and she sold shoes to a lady who wanted to start a children's agency. The lady kept saying, "Bring your daughter in, and I'll represent her." My mom was like, "I don't know if I want my daughter to be a part of that." Finally she just brought me in and everything sort of took off. My mom didn't really know if that was the best thing--getting me involved in the entertainment industry. But we were in Seattle, and there's not much going on there so we just thought of it mainly as a hobby. Then I ended up booking a TV series called Thunder Alley when I was 8, and that's when it became a career.

On the show, do you do your own riding?

I try to do as much of it as possible because I love to ride. Most of what they have me do I can do myself, but there's a whole time schedule going on in the show. I have to be in school for a certain number of hours a day, so they have to get a double to do some of the wide shots of me riding.

Do you have horses?

No, my mom is afraid of horses. We live on horse property. We have stables literally right over our fence, so I go visit the horses. We have friends with horses, and my cousin rides horses. My mom loves animals, but she feels intimidated.

How much time do you actually spend in Canada, where Caitlin's Way is filmed?

Six months out of the year we're in Canada. At first, I wasn't really too happy about it because all my friends are in Los Angeles, but after my first six months I absolutely loved it there. I just love everything about the country and the provinces--it's really a nice place.

That's a lot like Caitlin too, huh?

Yeah, I had to leave my city life to go out in the middle of nowhere. I was really dreading it, and now I've come to accept it and actually enjoy it.

Where would you like to see your career go?

Well, Caitlin's Way is an absolutely wonderful stepping stone for my career, and it's more than I ever could have asked for. After the show has run its course, I would love to make a name for myself in film and then eventually go on to college. Then when I get out of college, work more in film and maybe eventually end up on Broadway--if I can learn how to dance and sing.

Do you do any of that now?

I do a little bit of swing dancing and I sing OK. I'm not at a professional level, but if it's something I really want to do, I believe I could do it. I would love to be on Broadway.

Do you have a boyfriend?

Actually, I don't have a boyfriend. I don't usually go steady with anyone because I would feel like I'm tied down or something. I definitely have a select few people I spend a lot of time with but no boyfriend.

How well do you and Jeremy Foley, who plays your cousin Griffen, get along off camera?

Well, this production has been going on for like three years since we did the first pilot episode, and Jeremy and I have known each other for that long so we are really close. I consider him to be one of my best friends, and we definitely have a Griffen/Caitlin kind of relationship. We're very difficult when it comes to being friends with each other, but we really do care about each other.

What is the one thing people don't really know about real-life Lindsay Felton?

Hmm. I have a smart mouth. I mean, I am really, really outspoken with my opinions. It definitely gets me in trouble a lot with my mom. Like sometimes I'll say something and, as soon as it comes out of my mouth, I'm like, "Whoa--that's not me. That was Caitlin."
