HAMILTON BIG FOR EL DORADO.

LANCASTER - The Lancaster El Dorado El Dorado, legendary country of South America
El Dorado (ĕl`dərä`dō, –rā`–) [Span.,=the gilded man], legendary country of the Golden Man sought by adventurers in South America.
Little League baseball all-stars knew they'd need a big performance from Ryan Hamilton.

The 85-pound 12-year-old is one of only two returning starters from last year's Area 3 playoff champions/District 51 finalists, and in Saturday's Area 3 tournament opener againt host Monte Vista Monte Vista can refer to

He hit three home runs, including a decisive grand slam grand slam

During the 20-game regular season, Hamilton batted .641 with four home runs. He was 10-0 as a pitcher, allowing only one earned run earned run

``Ryan really tore it up on Saturday,'' El Dorado manager Dale Sandfrey said. ``I guess when he gets his pitch, it's gone. He was really pumped up and ready to play.''

Hamilton, who was 3 for 3, helped El Dorado overcome a five-run deficit. His inside-the-park grand slam gave El Dorado its first lead, 8-7.

--Park View 10, El Dorado 0: Defending area champion El Dorado couldn't parlay the momentum from Saturday's comeback victory, as Park View's Chase Tigert threw a one-hitter with 15 strikeouts in six innings in Monday's quarterfinal.

Hamilton went the distance for El Dorado, allowing 10 hits and two walks with four strikeouts. His teammates committed 10 eight errors, and five of the 10 runs were unearned. At the plate Hamilton was 0 for 2 with two strikeouts against the hard-throwing, 5-foot-10 Tigert.

``Compared to last year, we're just very inexperienced,'' Sandfrey said. ``This is a young team. Seven of our 14 players are 11-year-olds.''

Park View, considered a major favorite in this tournament, is attempting to recapture its 1998 glory, when the boys won the Area 3 and District 51 championship before losing in the Sectional.

--Monte Vista 7, El Dorado 0: Host Monte Vista avenged an opening loss on Saturday with a victory in Tuesday's rematch. The win set up a match with unbeaten Park View late Wednesday. If Monte Vista won, the teams meet again at 7:30 tonight. If Monte Vista lost, Park View moves on to the Distrct 51 tournament at Rosamond Little League starting on Saturday.
