HALLOWEEN FUN.

ODYSSEY DANCE UTAH Utah, state, United States

KINGSBURY HALL SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH For ships of the United States Navy of the same name, see .
Salt Lake City is the capital and the most populous city of the U.S. state of Utah. The name of the city is often shortened to Salt Lake, or its initials, S.L.C.
 OCTOBER 18-24, 2000

Mystery and wonder were in the chill October air. Pale, sickly-looking ghouls cloaked in black robes stood at each entrance of Kingsbury Hall as if to say, "Enter if you dare." Under the artistic direction--or "the sick mind" as the program asserts--of Derryl Yeager, Odyssey Dance Utah has made "Thriller" a sell-out Halloween sensation.

Interaction with the performers began as soon as ushers had guided guests to their seats. Dancers with ratted hair, greenish complexions, blackened black·en

eyes, tattered clothing and stiff, jolted postures impersonated the living dead, milling around in the audience and meeting surprised reactions that offered a fitting prelude to the evening's amusement.

The program was an almost exact replica of last season's revue-style production of "Thriller," by the company formerly called Utah Contemporary Dance. This is a type of seasonal entertainment that can be expected to draw recurrent holiday audiences--much like The Nutcracker and the current Dracula craze--but it will be necessary to see new choreography or fresh variations of the same theme to avoid predictability.

Horror characters often seen at Halloween such as the Mummy, Frankenstein and Dracula returned to the stage. Even horror film horror film npelícula de terror or miedo

and Michael Myers of Halloween were back for revenge.

However, "Thriller" maintains a widespread appeal in the playful manner in which the frightful is transformed into the hilarious. Frankenstein's monster (Camron Nelson) and his frizzy-haired bride (Angie DeSt.Jeor) danced a deliberately stiff and awkward love pas de deux pas de deux

The company was at its strongest in Michael's Mire mire (mer) [Fr.] one of the figures on the arm of an ophthalmometer whose images are reflected on the cornea; measurement of their variations determines the amount of corneal astigmatism.

One thing is certain: Odyssey Dance Utah knows how to rouse an audience. When the entire company returned for the Thriller Finale, the audience was applauding wildly.
