HABITAT FOR HUMANITY BRANCH NAMES LEADER.

Ken Pyburn of Oxnard, a former IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries)  executive, has been appointed executive director of Habitat for Humanity Habitat for Humanity, nonprofit ecumenical Christian organization that enables low-income people to own affordable, livable housing. Headquartered in Americus, Ga., it was founded in 1976 by businessman Millard Fuller and his wife.  of Ventura County.

Pyburn, 58, has been serving as interim executive director since Virgil Nelson resigned in July.

``I'm looking forward to building on the foundation started by Virgil,'' Pyburn said. ``I want to be sure we are equipped to become a significant builder in Ventura County of housing for low-income people.''

Pyburn has been a member of the Ventura County branch for two years, serving most of that time as executive board chairman.

Born in London, Pyburn spent 29 years with IBM in various management and marketing positions in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. He is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles UCLA comprises the College of Letters and Science (the primary undergraduate college), seven professional schools, and five professional Health Science schools. Since 2001, UCLA has enrolled over 33,000 total students, and that number is steadily rising. , with a degree in social sciences.

 founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller in Americus, Ga. Since then, Habitat has built more than 40,000 homes around the world.

Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County, which became the state's first affiliate with Habitat for Humanity International in 1983, built its first home in 1994.

Since then, volunteers completed one home in 1995 and four more this year. Two other homes are expected to be completed this year, Pyburn said.

Habitat plans to build seven to 10 low-income homes each year in Ventura County, he added.
