HAAPAOJA NAMED PR NEWSWIRE NORTHEAST REGIONAL MANAGER; ROLE OF EDITORIAL DIRECTOR KEN DOWELL BROADENED

 NEW YORK, May 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Ian Capps, president of PR Newswire, today announced two senior-level appointments that will enable the world's largest media relations network to better serve its expanding client base and to continue its leadership role in the emerging fax-on- demand market.
 David Haapaoja, 40, has been named Northeast regional manager with responsibility for all business in New York and New England. Haapaoja will oversee the integration of the New York sales, member services and editorial operations. PRN's Boston bureau will also report to Haapaoja, who will be based at PRN's operations center in Jersey City, N.J.
 Editorial Director Ken Dowell's responsibilities will be broadened to include the development of internal training programs and oversight of new editorial products. Dowell will continue to direct overall national editorial policy and operations.
 Both appointments were effective May 1.
 Haapaoja joined PRN in its Boston bureau in 1988 and was appointed bureau manager later that year. He was promoted to New England regional manager in January 1993. he began his journalism career as a reporter with the Quincy Patriot Ledger.
 Dowell, 43, was an editor for the Paterson News prior to joining PRN as an assistant editor in 1976. He was appointed manager, editorial services in 1988 and editorial director in 1991.
