H.K. jobless rate remains unchanged at 5.7% in April-June period.
Hong Kong's jobless rate remained unchanged at 5.7 percent in the April-June period, compared with the March-May period, according to the latest government statistics released Monday.
The underemployment rate dropped to 2.8 percent from 3 percent in the two periods, the Census and Statistics Department said in a statement. Hong Kong considers a person underemployed if he or she works less than 35 hours a week.
Gains in jobs were mainly seen in the manufacturing, wholesale trade and real estate sectors, the statement said.
The government said an influx of fresh graduates is expected to keep the rate at the current level in the coming months.
The unemployment rate, which has remained at 5.7 percent in the two consecutive periods, improved from 5.9 percent in the February-April period.
