Sales for the fiscal year ended Dec. 31, 2002 were $6,491,113 compared with $5,966,564 during fiscal 2001 -- an 8.8% overall increase. Gross profit increased 8.0% to $2,761,077 during fiscal 2002 from $2,555,694 during fiscal 2001. Selling, general and administrative expenses increased 16.9% to $3,107,303 in fiscal 2002 from $2,657,141 in fiscal 2001. Other income and expense in 2002 reflects income of $142,446 compared to net expense of $62,160 in 2001. Net loss for fiscal 2002 was $203,780 compared to a net loss for fiscal 2001 of $163,607.

S. Steven Carl, chairman and chief executive officer of H.E.R.C., commented, "Our results for 2002 were negatively influenced by several one-time events, such as the corporate headquarters move to Virginia, that resulted in over $335,000 of net expense being added during the fiscal year. This increased expense was partially offset by the sale of our Chlor*Rid product for $225,000. On an on-going basis, excluding the net effect of all one-time items, our results for 2002 actually improved from 2001."

H.E.R.C. Products Inc. provides pipe cleaning, tank cleaning and other corrosion control services for multiple applications utilizing its proprietary and patented chemistry and processes. H.E.R.C.'s patented and proprietary chemistry and processes are currently used in cleaning marine, fire protection, potable potable /pot·a·ble/ (po´tah-b'l) fit to drink.
