Gyrus ACMI to Partner with Conceptus, Inc. to Market Essure Minimally Invasive Female Sterilization Procedure.

SOUTHBOROUGH, Mass. -- ACMI Corporation ("Gyrus ACMI"), the Urology & Gynecology division and subsidiary of Gyrus Group, PLC and a leading international manufacturer and supplier of diagnostic and therapeutic minimally invasive surgical devices in the areas of Urology and Gynecology, has entered into a partnership agreement with Conceptus, Inc.

Conceptus, Inc. manufactures and markets the Essure Permanent Birth Control system, an innovative medical device and procedure designed to provide a non-incisional alternative to tubal ligation that can be performed in the Gynecologist office. The Essure procedure deploys a soft micro-insert into the fallopian tube through the cervix using a minimally invasive transcervical tubal access catheter. By terms of the agreement, Conceptus sales representatives will be using Gyrus ACMI SlimLine(TM) Hysteroscopes to provide visualization and access during Physician evaluations of the Essure product in their office. The SlimLine(TM) Hysteroscope, an industry leader for its consistently high flow rates, provides clear visualization of the uterus and fallopian tubes throughout the procedure. Once in place, the Essure device is designed to elicit tissue growth in and around the micro-insert to form an occlusion or blockage in the fallopian tube.
