Guys dolled up.I really enjoyed "Fear of Men in Tights" in the November November: see month. Gender issue. I agree with Kathy Valin that men in ballet are thought to be sissy sis·sy n. pl. sis·sies 1. A boy or man regarded as effeminate. 2. A person regarded as timid or cowardly. 3. Informal Sister. and weak, but in reality must be very strong and muscular muscular /mus·cu·lar/ (mus´ku-lar) 1. pertaining to or composing muscle. 2. having a well-developed musculature. mus·cu·lar adj. 1. to perform lifts and other complicated partnering moves. I also agree that there's a double standard in terms of attire. Men in sports wear fitted clothing so that they can move easily, but it's not acceptable for men in dance. Tight clothing accentuates a dancer's line, which should make viewers appreciate men more. Are sportsmen just jealous jeal·ous adj. 1. Fearful or wary of being supplanted; apprehensive of losing affection or position. 2. a. Resentful or bitter in rivalry; envious: jealous of the success of others. because they have the muscle, but lack the grace? NATASHA COATS, EDWARDSVILLE, IL |
