Adventures in Art, a new series of monographs, includes two imaginatively designed titles. The pages are flooded with reproductions of artworks with a scattering of a few small photographs of the artists and their environments. The Chagall text is rather mystic, set in brief bits with varying typefaces and colors, it is sometimes biographical and more frequently relate to the subject of the art. Klimt's story traces more directly his artistic life, but there is also sensitive attention paid to discussions of many of the paintings. Middle and high school students will be drawn to these books' strong visuals, as well as to the succinctness of the text.
