Gurkhas band star at Tattoo; EVENT: NIA hosts 21st annual celebration.

THE band of the Brigade of Gurkhas The Brigade of Gurkhas is the collective term for elite British Army units that are composed of Nepalese soldiers. They are famous for their ever-present kukri blades and use of martial arts.  will top the bill of more than 1,000 performers at the annual Birmingham Tattoo. The Gurkhas will be joined by massed bands, including the Band of Her Majesty's Coldstream Guards Her Majesty's Coldstream Regiment of Foot Guards, also known officially as the Coldstream Guards, is a regiment of the British Army, part of the Guards Division or Household Division.  to entertain thousands of visitors expected at the 21st entertainment spectacular.

The Blue Falcons Gymnastic team will be on display and members of the Royal Air Force, Royal Navy and Army will battle it out as they compete in the popular field gun competition at the city's National Indoor Arena.

The organisers also anticipate one of the largest gatherings of standard bearers, with more than 100 standards marching as part of the opening of the event.

This year's special event, which falls on the 70th anniversary of the start of the Second World War, will feature a spectacular grand finale where all 1,000 performers will assemble on the arena in a spectacle of light and sound.

Joining them will be the British Tenor Tim Pitman who will perform a special arrangement of You'll Never Walk Alone and Land of Hope and Glory.

Organisers of the world class event have once again teamed up with the Mail's charity trust to promote the show.
