Gun shop targeted. (Exercising the Right).

John Wolfram, 54, owns Mailorder Gun Connection in Meritt Island, Florida. Shortly before 4 a.m. on May 23rd, his store's alarm sounded and Wolfram rushed to the shop. When he arrived, he found the door open and an air conditioning unit lying on the ground outside. It had been pulled out of a wall. Armed with a handgun, he entered the store. It was dark, but he could see the outline of two men, at least one of whom appeared to have a gun. When the armed man began moving toward him, Wolfram fired one shot, grazing the intruder's left arm. Both would-be robbers then meekly surrendered, and Wolfram called police, who responded at 4:18 a.m.

When officers arrived, they arrested Aaron M. Huck, 20, and James Campbell, 18. Huck was treated at a medical center in Rockiedge for his wound and released that same day. Police found a handgun stolen from the store in his pocket. Campbell had been armed with a large hunting knife. Both suspects were charged with armed burglary, grand theft of firearms, use of a firearm in a commission of a felony, and possession of burglary tools.

Agent Tamara Rittenhouse of the Breyard County Sheriff's Office told reporters that "all indications are that it was self-defense." And Sheriff Phil Williams issued a statement reiterating that under Florida law, "a citizen has the right to defend his/her property. If the citizen has a reasonable fear that they are in imminent danger of death or great bodily harm then they are stified in using whatever force, to include deadly force, to protect their life."
