Guide to golf and tennis meeting sites. If you know much about associations, you know there's no such thing as a "typical" association, much less a "typical" association meeting. Yet, some meeting trends hold true for associations year after year. Once again, resorts ranked among the most popular meeting facility type in the 1992 Association Meeting Trends Study, just completed. The survey shows that during the past two years, associations chose resorts 38 percent of the time for conventions, 33 percent of the time for board and executive committee meetings, and 26 percent of the time for seminars and workshops. ASAE's Meeting Data Base, which stores meeting preferences for 3,600-plus associations, shows a total of 5,180 citations for associations preferring resorts for some type of meeting. In addition, the data base holds records of more than 2,000 associations that prefer meeting sites that offer golf or tennis facilities. The resorts listed in the next few pages demonstrate commitment, shown by their advertising support in this issue, to ASAE ASAE American Society of Association Executives ASAE American Society of Agricultural Engineers (Society for Engineering in Agricultural, Food, and Biological Systems) ASAE Alkali-Sulfite-Anthraquinone-Ethanol and associations; they deserve your consideration as you look for a resort for your next "atypical" meeting.
