Guard lawmakers form new group.Thirty-one state legislators nationwide who serve in the National Guard or Reserves have formed the National Network of Legislators in the Military to share information about balancing their twin responsibilities. Representative K. Mark Takai is the group's first chairman. They formed after a national survey found that at least 57 state legislators were currently serving. The network has three initial purposes: to provide information to legislators who are or might be mobilized; to share best practices and model state legislation to support the military; and to provide a channel through which organizations supporting the military can work together.
