Ground water safe.

ONLY five million gallons of ground water is being extracted per day now, the Works Minister said yesterday.

He said the extraction was now down to five million gallons per day from 30m and he hoped it would soon be down to zero.

The reduction had been facilitated by the Hidd Power Company's desalination project, which was officially opened by the minister in March.

Mr Al Jowder added that the ministry was in the process of forming a Water Resources Council to bolster efforts towards better utilisation of water.
