Music career Sunshine Anderson was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, but later moved to Charlotte as a child. , M.A.D., Neneh Cherry, Nappy Roots Nappy Roots is an American alternative Southern rap sextet that originated in Kentucky in 1995 and is best known for its hit 2002 single "Awnaw". The group consists of Oakland, California native R. and Richie Havens (who also appeared on Goodbye Country (Hello Nightclub)). The first single, Purple Haze, was shipped to Specialty Radio on November 25th. A vinyl only DJ Majik drum & bass remix of Final Shakedown, b/w Easy, will ship to Specialty, Dance and Mix Show radio formats on December 2nd. The video for Purple Haze was directed by Si & Ad (Gomez, Blue, Crackout).
