Grocery Outlet Names Read and Lindberg as Co-CEOs.


BERKELEY, Calif. -- Grocery Outlet Grocery Outlet, first known as Canned Foods Grocery Outlet until 1992, is a privately owned supermarket chain. Founded in 1946 in San Francisco, California, it currently operates within the Western states of California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada, and Arizona.  Inc., an extreme-value retailer of 124 stores in 6 Western States and Hawaii, announced the appointment of MacGregor Read, currently vice president of real estate and construction, and Eric Lindberg, currently vice president of purchasing, to co-chief executive officers, effective immediately. Read and Lindberg will be responsible for driving the company's future business strategies while working with Bob Tiernan, president/COO, to drive the company's day-to-day operations.

Steven and Peter Read will remain active board members, Steven as Executive Chairman and Peter Read as Chairman.

In announcing the change, Steven Read commented, "MacGregor and Eric have both made significant contributions to Grocery Outlet, and are the nucleus of a great team charged with guiding us into our next phase of growth."

MacGregor Read began his career in the food industry with Lucky Stores Lucky Stores is an American grocery chain founded in Alameda County, California in 1935. Lucky is currently operated by Supervalu in Southern California and Nevada and by Save Mart in Northern California.  in 1986. After graduating from the University of Pacific, he went to work for Del Monte Foods Del Monte Foods (NYSE: DLM) is an American food production and distribution company based in San Francisco, California.

It offers canned goods in Del Monte, S&W and Contadina brands, pet foods under Kibbles n' Bits, 9Lives, Pounce, Milk-Bone and several premium brands,
 as a product manager. In 1996 he joined GOI GOI Government Of India
