From the KLIATT review of the hardcover book, March 2006: "Irene is a highly creative, intelligent 14-year-old who is stuck with a babysitting job during a summer she wishes could be 'epic.' In this delightful story, which borders on being a farce, Irene spends her days with two children who adore a·dore

The audio production is as lighthearted and entertaining as its print companion. Almasy's voice is convincing as Irene. Listeners will hear the subtle changes in her voice as she moves through frustration, anticipation, and discovery as well as the awe she feels when she is around and interacting with Starla.

While the different characters are not fully distinct, Lainie's whining is near perfection and Evan's own budding independence is appropriately mixed with his 12-year-old hesitation as he relates with others.
