Greyhounds fall short, now 0-2.

Byline: Jay Gearan

WORCESTER - The Assumption College football team kept knocking on victory's door last night.

Visiting Stonehill, however, refused to let the Greyhounds in, as the Skyhawks held on for a 20-14 victory.

Trailing, 20-7, after three quarters, Assumption scored early in the fourth on a 35-yard TD pass from quarterback Taylor Humphrey to Brian Carey Brian Patrick Carey (born 31 May 1968 in Cork, Ireland) is the manager of League Two football side Wrexham. Playing career

Twice in the final 10 minutes, Assumption drove deep into Stonehill territory, only to come away without a score.

"A lot of missed opportunities in the red zone," Assumption coach Corey Bailey said as the Hounds dropped to 0-2 on the season. "You've got to convert when you're in the red zone."

"Our kids just came out, pressured and executed," Stonehill coach Rob Talley said. "This is a great opener for us. Assumption is a veteran squad and a very good football team. They didn't lose their composure com·po·sure

With 4:10 left, the Greyhounds were back on the move as Humphrey (18 of 35, 185 yards) connected on successive passes to David Canney (10 receptions, 105 yards) and a 15-yard draw play rush by Youngblood to the 14.

Three plays later, again De'Bye was the hero, intercepting a fourth-down pass at the 10-yard line, ending the Greyhounds' chances.
