creatures that disturb human affairs, sometimes in revenge for humans' unbelief and disdain. The 12 short stories offer a range of scenarios: changlings and humans who cross worldly borders; changlings who serve as better--or far worse--offspring than their human "step-siblings"; a faery queen who falls for a studly studly - Impressive; powerful. Said of code and designs which exhibit both complexity and a virtuoso flair. Has connotations similar to hairy but is more positive in tone. Often in the emphatic "most studly" or as noun-form "studliness". "Smail 3.0's configuration parser is most studly."  but stupid skateboarder; faery dust that is used to kidnap humans; faeries and humans who must reconcile their differences and acknowledge their similarities. Even Hitler gets into the act.

Some of the tales are humorous, but still have an edge. Others are downright scary psychologically. The writing is generally good, the plots necessarily tight because of the short story form. Faery tales are not just for the young at heart, at least in this compilation. Dr. Lesley Farmer, Lib. Svcs., CSULB CSULB California State University at Long Beach , Long Beach, CA
