Greek's no longer chic at Alfred U: tragedy forces school to ban fraternitizes and sororities. (Update).


Following the death of a 21-year-old Alfred University Alfred University, at Alfred, N.Y.; state and private support; coeducational; opened as a school 1836, chartered 1857 as Alfred Univ. It is especially known for the College of Ceramics, which is among the few institutions in the United States offering a doctoral  (NY) student in February, school trustees looked closely at the campus Greek system and did not like what they saw.

The student, Benjamin Klein, was found dead in a creek in the small college town. After reports suggested that his Zeta Beta Tau "ZBT" redirects here. ZBT may also refer to zero bus turnaround memory.
Zeta Beta Tau (ZBT, brothers of which are nicknamed Zebes or Zeebs) is a historically Jewish, presently nonsectarian international fraternity.

"The Greek system is beyond repair," said trustee chairman Robert McComskey. The trustee's report supported contentions that the fraternity system promoted dangerous practices such as drinking and hazing, which have led to at least 84 deaths and injuries at schools across the country since January 2000. "From this report it became clear to all of us that our Greek system simply does not contribute to the type of learning environment we want at Alfred University," McComskey told The New York New York, state, United States
