Great pumpkin.Last October, farmer Alan Eaton grew a jack-o-lantern carver's dream: the world's biggest pumpkin. To grow the 656 kilogram (1,446 pound) whopper Whopper - WarGames , Eaton started with a seed from a jumbo pumpkin. Why? Parents pass traits, or inherited characteristics, like color and weight to their offspring. So Eaton's pumpkin seed had the potential to become colossal, says Jim Myers Jim Myers was the head football coach at Iowa State University in 1957. At Iowa State, he compiled a 4-5-1 record.
