Great Western dominates light beer division in world competition. (Off the Wire).Saskatchewan's Great Western Brewing Company dominated the American style light lager division at this year's prestigious World Beer Cup in Aspen, Colorado. Brewhouse Light was a silver medal champion and Western Premium Light brought home a distinguished bronze medal in what is often referred to as the toughest category at the competition. "The World Beer Cup is the Olympics of beer competitions," states Ron Waldman, president and CEO of Great Western Brewing Company. "Add to that the fact that light beer is the fastest-growing and single-largest beer category in North America, and you can see that we have accomplished something truly great here." The World Beer Cup is a global competition held every two years that evaluates beers from around the world. This year's competition was the largest ever. A record 1,173 beers were entered representing 379 breweries from 38 countries. "We're brewing award-winning, world-class beer right here in Saskatchewan," adds Waldman. "We're very proud of our brewing program and the commitment it takes to achieve recognition at these international competitions." "We're proud to show the world what we have to offer, and to say that we are doing it right here in Saskatchewan. We want to dedicate these wins to our hardworking staff, and we want to send out a heartfelt thank you and cheers to everyone who has supported us all these years. |
