Great Western Minerals Group releases Copper Hill Project exploration results.

Great Western Minerals Group Ltd. is pleased to report the results of the systematic evaluation undertaken recently on the Copper Hill Project, located in Clark County, Nevada Clark County is a county located in the U.S. state of Nevada. It is the most populous county in Nevada (2006 population estimate 1,912,654), and contains the city of Las Vegas. , 70 km south of Las Vegas. The program to date includes a detailed ground magnetic survey, a Mobile Metal Ion (MMI (Man Machine Interface) See HMI.

It consists of the tympanum, or triangular wall surface, enclosed below by the horizontal cornice and above by the raking cornice, which follows the  covered areas.

The MMI survey (1,235 samples) identified two significant anomalies. The first is an extensive, five-km-long by 1.5-km-wide, high-contrast gold anomaly with associated lead and zinc in a largely pediment covered area. This feature trends northerly, occupies the eastern portion of the survey area and is interpreted to be the MMI geochemical signature of a major structural zone mineralized min·er·al·ize

The second anomalous zone is a coincident copper-molybdenum-gold-silver-cobalt response. This anomaly is approximately circular to ovoid o·void or o·voi·dal

The geological mapping program has identified a rock sequence consisting of andesitic and dacitic Adj. 1. dacitic - relating to or consisting of dacite; "dacitic magma is highly viscous"  volcanics intruded by microdiorite and quartz monzonitic stocks in an extensional environment typical of Nevada's Basin and Range geological province. Overprinting the host rocks are zones of intense advanced argillic alteration with patches of silica flooding and quartz-alunite replacement which are also indicative of porphyry copper/gold environments.

Mapping has also identified an E-W E-W East-West  trending structure in the northern part of the property which hosts a number of disseminated gold targets, quartz veins and stockworks in altered volcanics. This structure is co-incident with the northern part of the strong gold geochemical anomaly. Along the eastern side of the property, in a largely pediment covered area, is a zone with several pits and shafts hosted by strongly altered volcanic within the north-south trending gold-rich geochemical anomaly.

This work has identified several high-priority targets which will be followed up by additional MMI geochemical sampling and rock chip geochemistry surveys to detail the anomalies. An extensive IP geophysical survey targeted at delineating the deeper porphyry copper/gold target and the near surface disseminated gold targets will also be carried out. Specific drill targets will then be identified.

"This work significantly advances the project and confirms that it has real merit," says Gary Billingsley, chairman. "The geophysical, geochemical, and geological evidence strongly indicate the presence of a large porphyry copper/gold system as well as a major gold-bearing structural zone to the east--this will be a very exciting project to drill."
