) today announced that its Board of Directors declared a quarterly dividend of $0.415 per share on its common stock. This action continues Great Plains Energy's indicated annual dividend level of $1.66 per share. The common dividend is payable March 20, 2007 to shareholders of record as of February 27, 2007. The shares will begin to trade ex-dividend on February 23, 2007. The Board of Directors also declared regular dividends on the preferred stock Stock shares that have preferential rights to dividends or to amounts distributable on liquidation, or to both, ahead of common shareholders.

Preferred stock is given preference over common stock. Holders of preferred stock receive dividends at a fixed annual rate.
