Grass-roots Advocacy Awards honor friends of radiologic science.

ASRT President Cynthia Daniels, left, joins the Georgia delegation in presenting Georgia Rep. Nathan Deal with the ASRT Grass-roots Advocacy Award for his support of medical imaging and radiation therapy. Next to Ms. Daniels are Jan Martin, Rep. Deal, Shelvia Koontz and Freda Stewart. One member from both the House and Senate has been chosen by the ASRT since 2002 to receive an engraved plaque recognizing his or her leadership in supporting radiologic science and patients' rights to high-quality radiologic care.

North Carolina Sen. Richard Burr, standing, third from left, hosts an office full of R.T.s and radiologic science students. North Carolina Society of Radiologic Technologists President Bob Styres, standing, at right, presented the senator with the ASRT Grassroots Advocacy Award. Top row, from left, are Melissa Jackowski, Robert Thorpe, Sen. Burr, Cindi Luckett-Gilbert, student Minh Le, student Kelly Walker and Mr. Styres. Seated, from left, are Linda Yurko and students Amber Abernethy, Emilie Dickinson, Dylan Suttle and Ashley Echeverria. The six students graduate this month from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.
