The grant will fund training by the college to upgrade skills for 705 employees at the companies.Arizona's Phoenix College has received $580,000 from the Hispanic Serving Institutions Assisting Communities Grant which will be used to create the Career Training and Employment Program. Midlands Technical College in Columbia, S.C., has received $100,000 from Wachovia towards its Investing in the Future campaign. The funds will assist the college in providing accessible education for the emerging workforce, workers in transition and the existing workforce. Montgomery College in Germantown, Md., recently received a $5,000 grant from the American Council on Education and the Ford Foundation to analyze its international curriculum and develop a plan to make global learning central to students. Bellevue Community College in Bellevue, Wash., has been awarded a $30,000 Fulbright grant for its 2003-2004 International Scholar-in-Residence program.
