Teacher Enrichment Grants provide financial support for music teachers wishing to pursue private study, college-level course work or special performance, pedagogy, music theory or composition projects. Funding will not be provided for individuals pursuing course work toward a degree. Local Association Matching Grants matching grant Academia Non-peer-reviewed funding in which a commercial enterprise, foundation, or philanthropy, federal government, contributes a sum of money that 'matches' a financial contribution made by an institution, university or hospital. offer financial assistance for educational and professional development and community music outreach Outreach is an effort by an organization or group to connect its ideas or practices to the efforts of other organizations, groups, specific audiences or the general public. projects facilitated by MTNA MTNA Music Teachers National Association MTNA Middle Tennessee Nursery Association (McMinnville, Tennessee) local affiliates. Project ideas include educational workshops, community outreach and education opportunities, master classes, seminars and clinics. Association applicants must prove ability to match requested grant funds. For local associations established since July 2000, the New Local Association Start-Up Grant Program provides assistance for increasing the new local association's presence in the community through projects offering educational and professional development for teachers and support and promotion of music in the community. Teacher organization affiliating with MTNA after July 2000, but existing prior to their MINA affiliation, must apply for the Local Association Matching Grant. The postmark deadline for 2003 Teacher Enrichment Gram applications is January 13, 2003, and the deadline for both Local Association Matching and Start-Up Grants is February 3, 2003.
