Following an analysis of available technologies, Grande Communications deployed Micromuse's flagship Netcool/OMNIbus(TM) application, for its ability to collect and consolidate realtime status data from devices across the network, providing operators with more efficient means of service management. Grande Communications also deployed Micromuse's Netcool/Impact(TM) software to determine how specific system events might affect services, business processes, or a customer's call experience.

The Netcool(R) suite also integrates closely with Grande's existing Operational Support System applications via the Netcool Gateway(TM) for Oracle and the Netcool/Impact Data Source Adapter(TM) (DSA (1) (Directory Server Agent) An X.500 program that looks up the address of a recipient in a Directory Information Base (DIB), also known as white pages. It accepts requests from the Directory User Agent (DUA) counterpart in the workstation. ) for Granite Systems. These integrations help network operators tap into existing external Oracle databases and Granite directories to support business impact analysis and to accelerate service restoration. The Netcool/Impact DSA for Granite integrates with service provisioning data and speeds the response time to network outages.
