Graffiti wars.I just received my April 25 issue of The Advocate and was a little disappointed in the coverage in the Advocate Report. On page 16 there is the article "Hate and Hope on the Bus," and on page 20 is "Graffiti Won Out." Both of these reports are about defacing property and religious intolerance Religious intolerance is either intolerance motivated by one's own religious beliefs or intolerance against another's religious beliefs or practices. It manifests both at a cultural level, but may also be a formal part of the dogma of particular religious groups. . However, when the defacing occurred to a pro-gay bus, the incident was labeled a hate crime, and when the defacing occurred to an ex-gay group's billboard, the incident was discussed in a tongue-in-cheek fashion. Your unbalanced reporting helps foster the gap between religious evangelicals and gay-supportive Christians. It sickens me how intolerant gay people often are of evangelical Christians and other religious fundamentalists. We will never be able to bridge the gap to acceptance until the bigotry of GLBTQ GLBTQ Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer GLBTQ Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered, Questioning people can be dealt with as honestly as we point out the bigotry of those against us.
