Gradient Technologies Announces Revolutionary Pricing Model For Access Management; Server-Based Pricing Approach Marks Significant Change from Competition.

MARLBOROUGH, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 13, 1999--

Gradient gradient

In mathematics, a differential operator applied to a three-dimensional vector-valued function to yield a vector whose three components are the partial derivatives of the function with respect to its three variables. The symbol for gradient is ∇.
Technologies, Inc. today announced a new pricing model for NetCrusader(tm)/Web and NetCrusader(tm)/CORBA--access management solutions for web-based and component-based applications. The new structure breaks with the user-based pricing approach taken by other leading access management vendors in the industry. Based on a simple server-oriented approach, the model reflects how e-business applications are deployed, eases software license management, and will result in significant cost-savings as e-business applications are successfully deployed to thousands or millions of users.

"User-based pricing is becoming increasingly untenable in the Web application environment, while server-based pricing presents an attractive solution," according to according to

Under the new pricing, NetCrusader(tm) is available at four levels of increasing financial commitment and user need:

--Evaluation - Software is available at no charge for 60 days

--Development & QA - Development license may be purchased for $6,000, which includes all software necessary for a development team to incorporate an access management solution

--Pilot and Deployment - NetCrusader may be purchased at a flat fee of $28,000 per server, (regardless of processor) with no limit to the number of users

--Massive Deployment - Site licenses and annual subscription programs are available for very large configurations and provide users with unlimited access to all software

"Beyond being significantly less expensive for customers when their e-business applications reach high user counts, this new pricing model is simply easier for them to forecast and manage expenses as their efforts are successful," said Michael Jannery, vice president of marketing for Gradient.

The new server-based pricing for NetCrusader/Web and NetCrusader/CORBA takes effect immediately. International prices will vary.
