Gracin out to show he's not just an 'Idol' also-ran.

A few years back, a U.S. Marine from Michigan brought a little taste of country to Fox TV's "American Idol American Idol is an annual American televised singing competition, which began its first season on June 11, 2002. Part of the Idol franchise, it originated from the British reality program Pop Idol. ." Josh Gracin's country-flavored run ended with a fourth-place prize during the second "Idol" season.

Fortunately for Gracin, the guys from Rascal Flatts Rascal Flatts (IPA: /ˈræskəl ˈflæts/) is an American country pop band formed in Nashville, Tennessee in 2000.  happened to be watching the show the night Gracin performed the band's "I'm Moving On "I'm Moving On" is the debut single by Scott Cain, winner of the 2002 Australian Popstars series. The lyrics deal with the singer's decision to end a relationship in which he feels he is being emotionally abused. ." Bassist Jay DeMarcus Jay DeMarcus (born Stanley Wayne DeMarcus, Jr. on April 26, 1971, in Columbus, Ohio) is the bassist and a harmony vocalist in the American country pop trio Rascal Flatts. His second cousin, Gary LeVox, is also in the group as the lead vocals.  helped Gracin land a record deal.

The singer's self-titled debut was released in June 2004 on the Hollywood label.

Gracin is headlining shows along the West Coast before opening some dates for Trace Atkins. The singer will perform at the McDonald Theatre, 1010 Willamette St., at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Tickets are $22 in advance, available through TicketsWest. The price will go up to $27 on the day of the show.

In Tenacious D, Gass plays lead guitar and sings backup vocals, and also plays the role of Black's comic foil in most of their , has spawned its own tribute act.

Christian recording artist Paul Wright will return to his hometown for a show today.

Wright, who won back-to-back national championships in 1998 and '99 with Northwest Christian College Northwest Christian College is a private, liberal arts college located in Eugene, Oregon and is affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the Independent Christian Churches/Churches of Christ.  basketball team, has recorded two full-length albums for Toby McKeehan's (dcTalk) label: Gotee Records Gotee Records (established 1994) is a record label founded by dc Talk member Toby McKeehan (professionally known as tobyMac), Todd Collins, and Joey Elwood.[] The label began as a production company. .

Eugene's favorite faux Mexican band, Los Mex Pistols del Norte, will play its Ennio Morricone-by-way-of-Tijuana-flavored punk rock today at Sam Bond's Garage, 407 Blair Blvd. Also on the bill are Fred Van Vactor and Eugene's favorite wayward son, Tom Heinl.

Showtime is 9:30 p.m., and the cover is $5.

Ben Darwish Trio

The Ben Darwish Trio - featuring Darwish on piano, Zach Wallmark on bass and Drew Shoals on drums - will perform tonight at Luna, 30 E. Broadway.

The group, which formed in July 2005 and is based in Eugene, plays improvisational jazz that incorporates a number of influences, including hip-hop, rock and Latin.

Showtime is 9 p.m. The cover is $5.

Kane, Cool Nutz

Eugene rapper Kane teams up with Portland hip-hop pioneer Cool Nutz to celebrate the Cool Nutz "Voice of Northeast Portland" mixtape release party at the WOW Hall, 291 W. Eighth Ave.

From France by way of the desert of Tucson, Ariz., come Marianne Dissard and Naim Amor, who will team for a night of "sexy pop and lounge' (their words) at Luckey's on Saturday.

They will perform songs from their most recent albums, both of which were produced by Calexico's Joey Burns.

Showtime is 10 p.m.; the cover is $3 to $5 on a sliding scale. Luckey's Club Cigar Store Luckey’s Club Cigar Store was purchased in 1911 by Tad Luckey, Sr., the son of Irish immigrants and an early Eugene pioneer. It is the oldest retail business in downtown Eugene, and one of the oldest bars in Oregon.  is at 933 Olive St.

Steve Larson

Jazz pianist Steve Larson will put music in the air of the Oregon Wine Warehouse, 943 Olive St., on Saturday.

Larson holds an endowed chair at the University of Oregon's School of Music. His set will last from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and there will be no cover charge.

Saturday, Cozmic Pizza

National touring artist Matt Vrba will perform Saturday at Cozmic Pizza, 199 W. Eighth Ave.

Washington, D.C.'s Dead Meadow will celebrate the release of its fourth CD, "Feathers," with a show at the WOW Hall on Saturday.

The band, which formed in 1998, specializes in what its news release calls "Hendrix/Sabbath riffage, dreamy psych, heavy undulating rhythms, dirty blues-rock and environmental jams."

SoCal solo artist Entrance and Eugene's StopSignGo lend their able support. Showtime is 9 p.m.

Irving

The Silverlake, Calif., five-piece Irving has opened for such acts as Franz Ferdinand, the Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene and the Polyphonic The ability to play back some number of musical notes simultaneously. For example, 16-voice polyphony means a total of 16 notes, or waveforms, can be played concurrently.  Spree.

The group is on its own these days, touring in support of its latest record, "Death in the Garden, Blood on the Flowers Death in the Garden, Blood on the Flowers is the second full-length release from Los Angeles indie band Irving, released in 2006.

Grammy-winning pianist George Winston will perform a solo concert Wednesday at the Florence Events Center, 715 Quince quince, shrub or small tree of the Asian genera Chaenomeles and Cydonia of the family Rosaceae (rose family). The common quince (Cydonia oblonga  St.

Pnuma Trio

It may be spelled Pnuma Trio, but it's pronounced "Numa" Trio.

The Memphis-based trio will get a jam going Thursday at the WOW Hall.

Warming up the crowd will be two local favorites, Reeble Jar and Eleven Eyes. Showtime is 9 p.m. The cover will be $7.
