Govt keen to resolve problems of business community : Fahim.

ISLAMABAD, September 29, 2009 (Balochistan Times): Minister for Commerce Makhdoom Amin Fahim said on Monday that government was keen to resolve the problems being faced by the business community and boost production and exports for the economic prosperity of the country. We are sincere and keen to resolve the problems of the business community being faced by them while doing their businesses ,besides overcoming the energy shortages in the country, he said while addressing the participants of Silver Jubilee of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) here. The silver jubilee of the ICCI (1984-2009) was celebrated here at Chamber House. Makhdoom Amin on the occasion congratulated the members of the ICCI for celebrating the silver jubilee of the Chamber and urged them to play their vital role for the socio economic progress of the country. He told them that government has announced three-year Trade policy with focus on the revival of all small and big industries for the economic prosperity of the country. He said that for the first time extensive consultations were held with all Chambers and Associations to get maximum input in formulation of Trade Policy. The Federal Minister told the meeting that all industries, no matter big or small, are the backbone of our economy. That is why our focus is revival of all industry. He said that government was committed to overcoming the problem of loadshedding by December this year and adopting long and short term energy policies to generate more electricity in the country. Under short term policy, he said that the government was working on the rental power units for overcoming the electricity shortages. Similarly, he said long term Hyde power projects have been launched to generate electricity for domestic and industrial consumptions. The Minister for Commerce Makhdoom Amin Fahim said that the performance and efficiency of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) is being further improved for the prosperity of the country and boosting domestic and international trade of Pakistan. He assured the business community that their problems would be taken up with the relevant authorities and steps would be taken to resolve them for the benefit of the business community and prosperity of the country. In his welcome address, President of ICCI highlighted the achievements of the chamber, since its inception in 1984. Later shield were awarded to the businessmen who performed well in their respective industries. Shields were also presented to the mediapersons for highlighting business activities through their respective organizations.
