Governor says vote for Springfield.

SALEM - Gov. Ted Kulongoski Theodore R. "Ted" Kulongoski (born November 5 1940, in rural Missouri[1]) is an American Democratic politician. Since 2003, he has served as the Governor of Oregon. He was re-elected in 2006.  on Monday urged all Oregonians to vote.

For Springfield. In a contest where the winning city gets to host the national premiere of "The Simpsons Movie" on July 26.

"With Simpsons creator Matt Groening Matthew Abram Groening (born February 15, 1954[1] in Portland, Oregon;[2] his family name is pronounced 'greɪnɪŋ', rhymes with raining  a native Oregonian and references to our state littered across the show, I think it is clear that the Simpsons' Springfield is Springfield, Oregon Springfield is a city in Lane County, Oregon, United States, separated from Eugene, Oregon primarily by the I-5 highway. Springfield was named after a natural spring located in a field or prairie within the current city boundaries. ," Kulongoski said in a prepared statement.

Television's animated Simpsons family lives in a city named Springfield.

"In Oregon, we have always held a special place in our hearts for the Simpsons family, and it would be an honor to welcome them home for their movie debut," Kulongoski said. "I encourage all Oregonians to join me in voting for Springfield."

The governor's request came on the day that videos prepared by officials in 14 Springfields were posted online at www.thesimpsons .usatoday.com. Anyone with a computer can vote once per day through Monday for the Springfield he or she feels should host the premiere.

Mayor Sid Leiken of Lane County's Springfield said he didn't ask his friend Kulongoski to publicly back the city's bid.

"He's got a good sense of humor Noun 1. sense of humor - the trait of appreciating (and being able to express) the humorous; "she didn't appreciate my humor"; "you can't survive in the army without a sense of humor"

, so this doesn't surprise me at all," Leiken said. "I think it's great, and I appreciate his support."

The local video presents evidence promoting the idea that Groening chose Springfield for his television show because he is from Oregon. The often-humorous, four-minute video includes an appearance by skateboarding skateboarding
