Government Affairs Conf Focuses on Regulatory Pressures

Reflecting increased political activity, environmental legislation and regulations will head the agenda at the annual Foundry Industry Government Affairs Conference on March 4-6 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.

The annual conference will update metalcasting and supplier industry executives on compliance requirements of federal mandates and proposals. Executives also will be encouraged to participate in the legislative and regulatory processes.

The conference is sponsored by the American Cast Metals Assn (ACMA), American Foundrymen's Society and Casting Industry Suppliers Assn.

Tentative topics and speakers at this year's conference will include: "Update on Metalcasting Research Legislation" (by U.S. Reps. Ben Erdreich and Claude Harris, both D-AL); "Air Toxics Provisions in the Clean Air Act" (William Rosenberg, EPA); "RCRA Reauthorization Legislation" (Gerry Dorian, House Transportation and Hazardous Materials Subcommittee); "Occupational Disease Legislation in this Congress" (Sy Holzman, House Subcommittee on Health and Safety); and "Inside OSHA" (Frank Frodyma, OSHA).

Also scheduled are talks by U.S. Reps. Lynn Martin (R-IL) and Tom Ridge (R-PA), and a presentation on Europe 1992.
