.A.) (TSE:BBD.B.) today signed a contract with the Royal Danish Air Force The Royal Danish Air Force (Danish: Flyvevåbnet) is the air force of Denmark, it is an expeditionary Air Force, with capability organised to support both international operations and homeland security.  (RDAF RDAF Royal Danish Air Force ) to supply two additional Challenger(R) 604 widebody business jet aircraft, bringing to three the number of aircraft sold to the Government of Denmark Denmark is a constitutional monarchy with a representative democracy based on a unicameral parliamentary system. The affairs of Government are decided by a Cabinet of Ministers, which is led by a Prime Minister.  in the past 2 1/2 years.

Like the initial Challenger 604 which was delivered to the RDAF in November 1999, the two new aircraft will be used primarily in a multi-role capability, supporting maritime surveillance missions (fisheries protection and anti-pollution) as well as search and rescue operations throughout Danish coastal jurisdiction in Europe and Greenland.

They will also provide the government with long range VIP transportation capability and medical evacuation. All three Challenger 604 aircraft will be based initially at Vaerloese, north of Copenhagen.

A key factor for the RDAF's decision to exercise these two additional options was Bombardier's ability to provide a total in-house turn-key solution. The Challenger jets will roll out of Bombardier's production facility at Montreal International Airport (Dorval) in fall 2000. They will be first ferried to Bombardier's facility in Tucson for interior completion, and then to Bombardier Services at Montreal International Airport (Mirabel) to be equipped with their special mission modifications. Pilot training is being provided at the Bombardier Aerospace Training Centre in Montreal.

"By utilizing the full resources of Bombardier Aerospace, we are able to guarantee an entire package under one very cost-effective contract," observed Rob Gillespie, president, Bombardier Aerospace, Business Aircraft. "This includes providing the best platform and specialized completion capabilities, plus customized pilot and maintenance training."

The Challenger 604 platform is well-suited for specialized roles where safety and reliability must be maintained in often harsh operating conditions. Numerous Challenger aircraft are currently in multi-role service with government agencies worldwide including Transport Canada Transport Canada is the department within the government of Canada which is responsible for developing regulations, policies and services of transportation in Canada. History , the Canadian Department of National Defence, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), component of the U.S. Department of Transportation that sets standards for the air-worthiness of all civilian aircraft, inspects and licenses them, and regulates civilian and military air traffic through its air traffic control  and the Transport Agency for the Republic of South Korea. In addition, the Challenger is also used to transport heads-of-state and other senior government officials in several other countries.

A total of 500 Challenger aircraft have been delivered to date, including 149 of the popular Challenger 604, the current production model. Since receiving Transport Canada type approval in August 1980, the Challenger family of aircraft has been sold to operators in more than 50 countries, and the fleet has amassed more than 1.7 million hours of operation, with a dispatch reliability of 99.6 per cent.

Certified by Transport Canada in September 1995, The Challenger 604 is the fifth and most advanced Challenger model to date, with a maximum range of 4,077 nautical miles (6,980 km). Thanks to its modest fuel consumption and the lowest operating costs operating costs nplgastos mpl operacionales  of any aircraft in its class, the Challenger 604 offers exceptional mission flexibility, equally suited for long intercontinental missions or frequent regional trips.
