)/Common Missile Warning System (CMWS) was held June 3 through June 7 at the Nashua, N.H. facilities of Sanders, a Lockheed Martin Company.

Attending the PDR were some 150 government and support contractor personnel. Attendees included representatives from the Office of the Program Manager for Airborne Electronic Combat (PMAEC), the U.S. Army Communications and Electronics Command (CECOM CECOM Communications Electronics Command (US Army)

), the Naval Air Systems Command The Naval Air Systems Command, or NAVAIR, is the part of the United States Navy which provides materiel support for naval aircraft and airborne weapon systems, such as guided missiles. During the Preliminary Design Review, program personnel presented and discussed current design parameters as well as installation approaches envisioned for the various Army, Navy and Air Force aircraft platforms.

Col. Roy P. Oler, U.S. Army, Program Manager for Airborne Electronic Combat, said, "This was a very positive Preliminary Design Review with expected progress being made toward completion of the Preliminary Design tasks. The government and contractor team agreed on actions for completion prior to the next major milestone -- the Critical Design Review (CDR (1) See CD-R and extension.

Sanders was selected in September of 1995 for the engineering and manufacturing development phase of the ATIRCM/CMWS ATIRCM/CMWS Advanced Threat Infrared Countermeasure/Common Missile Warning System  program. Under a four-year $97.6 million contract, Sanders will produce the next-generation directable, laser-based countermeasures system for protection against heat-seeking missile threats, and will develop and produce a common missile warning system for U.S. Army, Navy and Air Force aircraft.
