Gordon lights it up again for HoosiersEric Gordon followed his record-breaking debut with 21 points, Jordan Crawford added 16 and No. 8 Indiana beat Longwood 100-49 Sunday in the opening round of the Chicago Invitational Challenge. Gordon's 33 points against Chattanooga last week were the most by any player in his first game at Indiana, and the freshman continued his hot shooting with five 3-pointers against the Lancers. Crawford, also a freshman, scored most of his points in the second half as the Hoosiers built their lead to as many as 56 points. The second of four games for Indiana (2-0) in the early season tourney will be at home Tuesday night against UNC-Wilmington. Longwood (2-2) also will play Tuesday night at Kent State. The final two games will be at Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Ill. Armon Bassett had 14 points for Indiana, which had six players in double figures. Ryan Bogan scored 12 points for the Lancers, and Dana Smith finished with nine. Gordon's second 3-pointer of the game completed a 10-0 run and put Indiana up 17-6, and Longwood, a small independent from Farmville, Va., and one of three new Division I teams this season, never recovered. Indiana dominated inside against the smaller Longwood players. DeAndre Thomas, a 295-pound junior college transfer, got his first start for the Hoosiers and finished with 10 points. When Longwood tried to force Indiana outside, the Hoosiers countered with 3-pointers. Bassett's second 3-pointer gave Indiana a 30-17 lead, then late in the first half consecutive 3-pointers by Bassett and Gordon and another basket by Lance Stemler pushed the Hoosiers' lead to 54-30 at the break. Indiana widened it to 68-32 with three more baskets by Thomas and another 3-pointer by Gordon early in the second half, and the Hoosiers took their biggest lead at 97-41 with a 22-0 run down the stretch.
