, is the author of other books and articles about parenting. In the introduction to this book, she explains that part of her reason for writing it was due to the death of one of her daughter's friends. At that time, she was unable to find an adequate book to help her daughter deal with her grief. In this revised and updated edition of the 1994 publication, she aims to bring comfort and answers to other grieving adolescents.

Short chapters with questions and answers tell about the many types of emotions teens may experience after losing a friend to death. Quotes from well-known figures are interspersed with thoughts for reflection. There is also a helpful resource section listing organizations to contact for further assistance, followed by a list of books about grief for both parents and teens.
