 tire manufacturing. The latest expansion, the sixth one since the plant's opening in 1979, will boost production of Eagle high-performance tires.

A dip unit modernization project and expansion worth $5.3 million will bring state-of-the-art capabilities to Goodyear's Cartersville, GA fabric plant. About eight jobs will be added and construction is scheduled to begin in the fall. Completion is set for 1993. The Cartersville plant produces tire cord fabric and fabric for conveyor belting conveyor belt

Shell Chemical has registered its intent to purchase Goodyear's polyester resins Polyester Resin - Unsaturated Polyester Resin. The term generally used for unsaturated (means containing chemical double bonds) resins formed by the reaction of dibasic organic acids and polyhydric alcohols, basic component of SMC/BMC.  business for an undisclosed amount. The purchase includes Goodyear's polyester resin manufacturing facility in Point Pleasant, WV, its polyester technical center in Akron, OH and related assets. The transaction is subject to approvals by both companies and appropriate governmental agencies. The business' main product is polyethylene terephthalate Ter`eph´tha`late
