Goodyear named a Fortune most admired company.


Goodyear Tire & Rubber, Akron, OH, has earned top honors in the Rubber and Plastics Products category of Fortune magazine's list of "America's most admired companies A yearly publication by Fortune Magazine, America's Most Admired Companies consists of corporations that are highly esteemed by the likes of Business Executives, Directors, and Analysts. A survey is taken of close to 3300 professionals who give their opinions on the companies. ," for the third year in a row. Within its industry, Goodyear took top honors in six of the eight measured attributes of reputation. Goodyear was ranked number one in product quality, innovativeness, employee talent, social responsibility, financial soundness and long-term investment value.

Degussa-Huls AG, Frankfurt am Main, Germany, announced a price increase of 22 Euro per metric ton for its range of rubber blacks, effective March 15, in Europe. Degussa-Huls AG also announced a price increase for its pigment black range, comprising furnace, gas and lamp blacks (brand name Printex) for the plastics, inks and coatings industry. The price increase will be between 4-8%.

The Epoxy Products and Intermediates business of Dow Chemical, Midland, MI, is increasing the North American price of several of its intermediate products. Dow will increase the price of allyl chloride by $0.03/lb. and epichlorohydrin ep·i·chlo·ro·hy·drin

Zeon Chemicals L.P., Louisville, KY, announced a $0.04/lb. reduction in discounts from list price on general purpose nitrile elastomers (NBR NBR Number
