Goody's Announces Fiscal 1997 Year-End Sales Results.KNOXVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 5, 1998--Goody's Family Clothing, Inc. (Nasdaq/NM:GDYS) today reported sales for the fiscal month of January 1998 of $44.6 million, an increase of 23.5% over January 1997 sales of $36.1 million. Comparable store sales for January 1998 increased 11.3% over January 1997. Sales for the fiscal fourth quarter ended January 31, 1998, increased 22.4% to $334.8 million from $273.5 million during the same period last year. Comparable store sales for the fourth quarter of 1997 increased 10.1% over the fourth quarter of 1996. Sales for the fiscal year 1997, which ended January 31, 1998, increased 18.7% to $971.9 million from $819.1 million for the prior fiscal year. Comparable store sales for the fiscal year 1997 increased 8.2% over the fiscal year 1996. Robert M.
