Good teens to gather.

Goshen Township, Ohio, will be ground zero for hundreds of teenagers from all over America this June. Teenagers from across the country have volunteered to participate in two week-long work camps--the first running from June 11-17, and the second from June 18-24. They will repair homes throughout Goshen Township.

The young people belong to TeenServe, a division of CrossWalk Ministries, which was founded in 1999 by a Wisconsin woman named Laurie LaBelle and her husband. TeenServe sends eager teens to wherever there is a need, if there is a local group available to help organize the project. In this case, the local coordination will be provided by the Goshen United Methodist Church.

"We've found that this is a need everywhere," Mrs. LaBelle told the Cincinnati Enquirer's Community Press. "We need a sponsor team because we can't do it all from Wisconsin."

Jan Sullivan, of Goshen United Methodist Church, is the event coordinator for the work camps. She described the teens' activities to the Community Press: "It's basically for the elderly, disabled or those who are unable to do the work themselves. They'll build wheelchair ramps and paint. It's for people who can't do for themselves and just need to be blessed."
