Another round of U.S. Amateur qualifying is scheduled for Monday at Illahe Hills Country Club in Salem. Two players out of the 55-player field will advance to the national tournament.

Eugene's Michael Skillern, Chris Polski and Kyle Hudson will play at Illahe Hills, as will Springfield's Chris Barley.

Eugene athlete chosen for Wheelchair Games

Wheelchair Sports USA has selected John Roberts of Eugene for the track and field team that will compete at the 2003 World Wheelchair Games in Christchurch, New Zealand New Zealand (zē`lənd), island country (2005 est. pop. 4,035,000), 104,454 sq mi (270,534 sq km), in the S Pacific Ocean, over 1,000 mi (1,600 km) SE of Australia. The capital is Wellington; the largest city and leading port is Auckland. .

Roberts, a 2003 graduate of South Eugene High School South Eugene High School is a public high school located in Eugene, Oregon, United States. It was founded as Eugene High School around 1900, and was located at Willamette Street and West 11th Avenue in a brick building that later served as Eugene's city hall. , will compete in the 100-, 200-, 400-, 800- and 1,500-meter wheelchair races at the championships, set for Oct. 25-Nov. 3.

Area swimmers earn spots on Oregon team

A total of 12 swimmers from Eugene-area clubs have been selected for the Oregon team that will compete in the Western Zone Championships to be held Aug. 5-9 in Phoenix.

The girls chosen were Micaela Boyd, Sarah Boam, Chloe Thulstrup and Andria Breeden of Emerald Aquatics, Adriana Quirke and Laura Fay of Eugene City Swim Club, and Rachelle Stice, Kacie Hogan and Erin Postma of River Road Swim Club.

Christian Breeden and Ian Boyd of Emerald Aquatics and Patrick Naleway of Eugene YMCA were selected for the boys team.
