Golf Classic draws record crowd.The Fourth Annual Bergen County Golf Classic drew a record crowd of 176 golfers this summer to Ridgewood Country Club The Ridgewood Country Club is a country club founded in 1890 in Ridgewood, New Jersey, USA. The 27 hole golf course was designed by A. W. Tillinghast in 1929 and the clubhouse was designed by Clifford Wendehack. The greens are seeded with Poa annua and Bentgrass. in Paramus, N.J. The event raised more than $52,000 to benefit Bergen County's United Way and the Volunteer Center of Bergen County. Since its inception in 1998, the Golf Classic has raised more than $200,000 for these non-profit beneficiaries. Partnering to encourage both civic and corporate involvement in the community, Bergen County's United Way and the Volunteer Center of Bergen County maintain an online database (www.bergenvolunteers.org) of more than 900 volunteer position, provide corporate volunteer programs, sponsor the Northern New Jersey Business Volunteer Council and publish a biannual catalog of volunteer opportunities, the "HandsOn Guide to Volunteering."
