Golden Valley Mines Ltd.: Diamond Drilling Underway-2006 Abitibi Exploration Program.VAL-D'OR, Quebec Val-d'Or is a city in Quebec, Canada with a population of 32,288 (2006). It is located in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region near the Vérendrye provincial nature reserve. Gold was discovered in the area in 1923. Geophysical surveys, conducted over the past several months, have outlined multiple targets for diamond drilling on several properties in both Quebec and Ontario. Diamond drilling is currently underway at the Golden Jet prospect. It is expected that the diamond drilling will continue from now through to the year-end on the grassroots program. Historical exploration activities on and in proximity to the property have been sporadic over the years (1945-1988) with basic grassroots geological-geophysical-geochemical investigations and limited diamond drilling. Field-work conducted by Golden Valley Mines included line cutting and geophysical (H.L.E.M, induced polarization (IP) and magnetic) surveys. Initially, three distinct and separate drill targets have been identified on the property that may reflect an en echelon system of shear or fault zones as defined by first priority chargeability (IP) anomalies and coincidental anomalous gold-copper results derived from soil (humus humus (hy  `məs), organic matter that has decayed to a relatively stable, amorphous state. It is an important biological constituent of fertile soil. ) sampling, in part or in whole. The shear/fault zones trend east-northeast and are oblique to the southeast trending DPFZ. These cross structures are inferred to be splays off of the main break and may represent similar fault/shear systems that are associated with gold mineralization such as the Golconda (409,100 t grading 5.9 g/t gold) deposit located approximately two kilometres south of the property. Further to the southwest, the Beattie-Donchester (Mine Beattie & Donchester - 9,629,190 tonnes grading 4.11 g/t gold) and Central-Duparquet (181,800 t grading 6.17 g/t gold) shear zone systems are of similar-type structures. Once drilling, logging and sampling have been completed on the three drill holes, the drill rig will move to the Hunter Mine Group Prospect (VMS target: map # 50).
