Golden Valley Mines Ltd.: Diamond Drilling Underway-2006 Abitibi Exploration Program.VAL-D'OR, Quebec Val-d'Or is a city in Quebec, Canada with a population of 32,288 (2006). It is located in the Abitibi-TĂ©miscamingue region near the VĂ©rendrye provincial nature reserve. Gold was discovered in the area in 1923. The name of the town is French for "Valley of Gold. -- Golden Valley Mines Ltd. (TSX TSX Toronto Stock Exchange (TSE before April, 2002) TSX Transfer from Stack Pointer to Index TSX True Space Extension VENTURE:GZZ GZZ Garcia-Zhong-Zhao Coding Scheme ) announces that diamond drilling has commenced on its 2006 Abitibi exploration program. Geophysical surveys, conducted over the past several months, have outlined multiple targets for diamond drilling on several properties in both Quebec and Ontario. Diamond drilling is currently underway at the Golden Jet prospect. It is expected that the diamond drilling will continue from now through to the year-end on the grassroots program. The Golden Jet Prospect (gold & VMS (1) (Virtual Memory System) A multiuser, multitasking, virtual memory operating system for the VAX series from Digital. VMS applications run on any VAX from the MicroVAX to the largest unit. See OpenVMS. target: map #47) is located in Duparquet Township, approximately five kilometres east of the village of Duparquet, Quebec. The Destor-Porcupine (Duparquet) Fault Zone (DPFZ DPFZ Destor-Porcupine Fault Zone (Canada) ) is located immediately south of the property and is an important structural control for the focus of gold mineralization Mineralization The process by which the body uses minerals to build bone structure. Mentioned in: Rickets mineralization, n the bioprecipitation of an inorganic substance. , including the nearby Duparquet (1.2 million ounces (Moz) of historical gold production) and Holloway Ontario (1.4 Moz. of historical gold production) gold camps along strike to the west. Historical exploration activities on and in proximity to the property have been sporadic over the years (1945-1988) with basic grassroots geological-geophysical-geochemical investigations and limited diamond drilling. The most significant historical drill hole was collared approximately 600 metres east of the main property boundary (presently on ground held 100% by Golden Valley Mines) in 1945, which intersected 1.7 g/t gold over 1.16 metres (DDH DDH Decision Diffie-Hellman DDH Developmental Dysplasia of Hip DDH Dorothy Day House DDH Document Drafting Handbook DDH Dublin Dental Hospital DDH Destroyer-Carrying Helicopter DDH Dissociated Double Hypertropia #7 - GM 00695) and was termed the "Eastchester" mineral showing (SIGEOM 32D/11). Field-work conducted by Golden Valley Mines included line cutting and geophysical (H.L.E.M, induced polarization (IP) and magnetic) surveys. Initially, three distinct and separate drill targets have been identified on the property that may reflect an en echelon system of shear or fault zones as defined by first priority chargeability (IP) anomalies and coincidental anomalous gold-copper results derived from soil (humus humus (hy `məs), organic matter that has decayed to a relatively stable, amorphous state. It is an important biological constituent of fertile soil. ) sampling, in part or in whole. The shear/fault zones trend east-northeast and are oblique to the southeast trending DPFZ. These cross structures are inferred to be splays off of the main break and may represent similar fault/shear systems that are associated with gold mineralization such as the Golconda (409,100 t grading 5.9 g/t gold) deposit located approximately two kilometres south of the property. Further to the southwest, the Beattie-Donchester (Mine Beattie & Donchester - 9,629,190 tonnes grading 4.11 g/t gold) and Central-Duparquet (181,800 t grading 6.17 g/t gold) shear zone systems are of similar-type structures. Once drilling, logging and sampling have been completed on the three drill holes, the drill rig will move to the Hunter Mine Group Prospect (VMS target: map # 50). Refer to the Quebec & Ontario prospects location map www.goldenvalleymines.com/abitibi and the property map, www.goldenvalleymines.com/goldenjet on the Golden Valley Mines website. About Golden Valley Mines: Golden Valley is adequately funded for the continuance of its current exploration programs. Further updates will be forthcoming from the Abitibi Greenstone Belt The Abitibi greenstone belt is a 2,800-2,600 million year old greenstone belt that spans across the Ontario-Quebec border in Canada. It is mostly made of volcanic rocks, but also includes ultramafic rocks, mafic intrusions, granitoid rocks, and early and middle Precambrian (gold, copper-zinc) and James Bay (gold, copper-zinc) programs as drilling and survey results are received and additional drill targets selected.
