Turner, has successfully settled his libel and defamation lawsuit against Doug Mackenzie Douglas (Doug) MacKenzie was a fictional character in UK soap opera Family Affairs, played by Gareth Hale from 2003 to 2005. Doug first appeared in Charnham in September 2003, when he took on the job of refitting The Davenport's sandwich shop, , a.k.a. DigrDoug, for an undisclosed sum that has been received.
In conjunction with the settlement, Turner received the following letter of apology:
"Dear Mr. Turner:
I hereby formally and sincerely apologize to you for any and all comments that I have made about you through Internet chat rooms or bulletin boards that in any way have (sic) may have negatively reflected upon your character, reputation, professional competency or integrity. I retract TO RETRACT. To withdraw a proposition or offer before it has been accepted.

This the party making it has a right to do is long as it has not been accepted; for no principle of law or equity can, under these circumstances, require him to persevere in it. any negative statements that I have ever made about you and I sincerely apologize and commit to never make any further reference to you, inference about you or mention of you on the Internet or in any other form of public communication.

Unfortunately, I, and many others that posts (sic) their opinions on these chat rooms get carried away sometimes and innocent people, such as you Mr. Turner, get hurt in the process. I regret any embarrassment or distress that I may have caused you.
