The building, with its Art Deco art deco (ärt dĕkō`; är dākō`, ärt) or art moderne (är môdĕrn`, ärt) overtones, was hailed as a classic example of period architecture. But the company said it had no choice and moved its bank operations into a prefab trailer-like unit nearby until a new permanent home can be constructed just north of the Farmers Market. A bank spokesman chalked up the complaints to some people's inherent distaste for change.
