Glyko Biomedical announces joint Japanese distribution agreement.

Point Reyes National Seashore is nearby., Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 22, 1995--Glyko Biomedical Ltd. (OTCBB:GLYK, TSE:GBL) announced that it had signed a distribution agreement with Toyobo Co. Ltd. and MC Medical Inc.

Under an exclusive agreement, Glyko will provide its product line of FACE analytical imagers and reagents to be marketed in Japan by Toyobo and MC Medical to scientists in the university research, pharmaceutical, food and beverage industries in Japan.

The distribution agreement has an initial term of three years, with provisions for subsequent renewal. It covers Glyko's product line of carbohydrate imaging systems, analytical software, reagent and gel kits for analyzing different types of carbohydrates and sugar chains. Glyko will also provide specialized training and marketing assistance to Toyobo and MC Medical personnel.

"Toyobo and MC Medical are excellent partners for Glyko due to their strong positions in Japan," according to John Klock, M.D., Glyko's president. "We have spent considerable time getting to know each other and I think that they are very well positioned in their markets.

"Both MC Medical, which is a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corporation, and Toyobo have worked on marketing projects together before, and we are delighted that their organizations will be promoting our products."

Glyko develops and manufactures carbohydrate instruments and reagents for scientific research and medical diagnosis. Glyko's products are based on its patented FACE technology.
