GlukoMediTech AG Will Present Two New Polarimetric/spectrometric Flow Through Analytical Systems At the ACHEMA 2000, Frankfurt-Main, Germany.

Sangui BioTech International, Inc. (Nasdaq:SGBI) announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary GlukoMediTech AG, Witten, Germany, will present at the ACHEMA 2000 (22.-27. May 2000; hall 9.2, stand M 11) in Frankfurt-Main, Germany two new polarimetric/spectrometric flow through analytical systems for application in process control, biotechnology, pharmacy and in laboratories.

The development of the systems has been carried out in co-operation with CompMess GmbH & Co. KG, Nusttal-Gotthard, Germany.

The possible applications of the new industrial "in-process-flow-through" cuvette for the continuous determination of the optical activity and the spectral properties of a flowing solution in the visible and in the infrared range will be variable. For instance, the analytical system will be suitable for the monitoring and controlling of physical-chemical processes in chemistry, pharmacy, biotechnology, environmental technology and medicine. The pressure proved system, whose temperature can be regulated, can simultaneously measure the optical activity with several different path lengths. The number of the wavelengths for measurement of the spectral properties is selectable, at the moment about 10. The combined measurement system can be optimised for the process demands, and can be used in areas under danger of explosion. The system can be integrated in sterile working systems because it is independent from the taken sample. Furthermore, the system will be working without consumption of sample, which is a prerequisite for the cost intensive synthesis of stereo specific chemical and pharmaceutical substances.

The micro-flow-through-polarimeter will be suitable for high-pressure chromatography (HPLC) and for bioreactors, like fermenters. It will be connected to the system through microdialysing circulation.

The company has submitted a patent that covers this new type of dual optical measuring system at the German patent office.
